Summer Camp

Sal Caccavale Soccer Academy has been running summer camps for over 15 years and continues to grow every year! Summer camp is a fun and inclusive environment for kids of all ages and skill levels. While all of our campers come to have fun, the reason our camp is different and better than other soccer camps in the area is the training environment and the improvement campers will make throughout the summer.

Campers range from 6-19 years old and all attend camp with the same goal - to have fun and get better! We have an amazing coaching staff that have all played college or professional soccer that interact with players throughout the morning and even hop in some of the afternoon games! It’s truly a family environment at Sal’s Summer Camp! Our camp involves technical development, a ton of gameplay, weekly awards, and a lot of fun! Kids will really enjoy the atmosphere our camp offers and will be wanting to come back for more.

Evening Training

These sessions are attended by players in high school & college that are serious about developing to play at the highest level possible. Over the years, we have been involved in the training of many current and/or former professionals (both MLS and Europe), NCAA Division 1,2,3 college players, and many of the best high school Varsity and JV players from all around the DC metro area. These sessions are intense yet so amazing to play in or to come out and watch. Players that attend these sessions will have the opportunity to see/play with some of the best players that have come out of the DMV area recently. In 2019, many of the Georgetown Hoyas attended our sessions before their amazing season which crowned them National Champions. We also had players from the University of Maryland, Clemson University, College of Charleston, Colgate University, American University, and George Washington University attend our sessions. These evening sessions have become the premier spot to train throughout the summer in the DMV.

Sal Caccavale

Head Coach
Sal Caccavale

Coach Sal has been running summer camp in the DMV area for 15 years and continues to provide an amazing experience for soccer players of all ages and skill levels. Sal does a great job getting all players engaged in the camp and creates a family environment. Over the years, he has transformed the camp from a small camp, into arguably the biggest and best summer camp in the DMV area! Sal runs a tight ship at St. John’s and makes sure players learn but also have a ton of fun! Sal’s enthusiasm and charisma rubs off on the staff and players to create fun-filled camps!

Vincent Caccavale

Head Coach
Vincent Caccavale

Coach Vin has been working summer camp with Sal for 6 years now. Vin started coaching at Sal’s camp when he still attended NYIT, as a summer job. Vin is thrilled to be in DC full-time to continue growing the camp. Coach Vin is known at summer camp for his amazing play in “Horseshoes”, and remains unbeaten. Vin gets involved with all activities during camp and even hops in games which adds to the atmosphere during camp. Vin, a lot like Sal, is very loud and outgoing which allows for campers to settle into the camp quite quickly.

Brandon Daniels

Head coach
Brandon Daniels

Coach Brandon has worked at multiple summer camps over the years and has now been part of Sal’s Summer camp for the past 3 years. Brandon is a top notch coach and the younger kids absolutely adore him. Brandon is known for running the best youth “Champions League” tournament at Sal’s camp; with a full group stage, knockout stage, and player interviews. Brandon is a great addition to the camp and continues to come up with new ways to improve the camp. Brandon's energy and joy for the game is always on display at summer camp!

Jesse Lauritsen

Head coach
Jesse Lauritsen

Jesse grew up in DC and met Sal at the age of 8 at Sal’s summer camp. Jesse trained with Sal for many years prior to Sal becoming the head coach of Wilson High School in Jesse’s sophomore year. Together they won two DCPS Championships, before Jesse went on to play 4 years of Division 3 college soccer at Oberlin College. After earning a starting spot as a midfield, Jesse played every minute of every game and captained Oberlin his senior year earning First Team All-NCAC his Junior and Senior year. He is coaching with Sal at Achilles FC.

Stephen Harlan

Stephen Harlan

Stephen will be part of the summer camp staff for his 2nd year running. As a player growing up, Stephen attended Sal's camp and has very fond memories throughout the years. He now looks forward to creating new memories as a coach and the chance to leave an impact on players. Coach Stephen played college soccer at the Division 1 and Division 3 levels - while attending Villanova University and Franklin and Marshall, respectively. Stephen just finished his first year with Achilles FC and the SJC Boys Soccer Program and looks forward to many more.

Foster McCure

Foster is a sophomore defender for Georgetown University’s Men’s Soccer team. Foster grew up in the D.C area and met Sal when he was 8 years old and did not miss a year of summer camp, following his first experience, and has had the privilege to see it grow into what it is today! Foster has learned an incredible amount from Coach Sal both regarding the game of soccer and life in general. Foster is giving back to the Achilles family by developing quality players and continuing the journey he started at 8 years old with Sal.

RJ White

Born and raised in Washington DC, RJ was fortunate to have Sal Caccavale as his Wilson High School Coach at the age of 15 and won two championships with Jesse and Sal in his Sophomore and Junior year. Following Wilson, RJ went on to play 4 years at the Division 3 level for Arcadia University where he received a BS in Business Administration. Without the help of Sal, the Achilles family, and a lot of hard work, none of this would have been possible. Rj has been a part of our summer camp coaching staff for 4 years.

Beau Johnson

Beau played travel soccer for DC Stoddert. Beau attended St. John’s College High School where he was a 3 year varsity starter at right back, and was awarded WCAC Honorable mention as junior and First Team All-WCAC as a senior in 2016. He also captained the Cadets his senior year and helped transform the SJC soccer program into what it is today. Beau is currently attending Salisbury University and plays Division 3 college soccer. Beau has started every game for the team since his arrival. Beau has been a part of our summer camp staff for 3 years.

week 2 (1)

The summer camp is a place where you can learn new moves and learn how to play the game of soccer. This is when I really improve my technical skills.  The counselors are hands on and there is no hiding. If you struggle the skill is broken down until you get it.  It’s different from other camps because it’s for serious players who think playing soccer is fun. There is little down time and you work hard the whole time. You get to meet lots of new players of all ages and although the atmosphere is serious training it’s so friendly and lots of fun. It’s a real PLAYERS camp!!   I have been going for years and can’t imagine it not being a part of my summer. If you come and work hard you will see results!

-Nick Laffey, 14

Our daughter and son have been training with Coach Sal and his team at Summer Camp for the past five years. Simply put our kids have thrived in Coach Sal’s environment which is focused on technical development, teamwork and a love of the game. There is a reason so many alumni - now playing in college and the pros - come back to train and teach at Coach Sal’s Summer Camp. Our kids could not be happier with the development focused environment Coach Sal and his team create and the passion for soccer they nurture.

-The McKee Family

I’ve been attending Sal’s soccer camp since third grade and look forward to it every summer. There are kids of all ages and skill levels which allows players to develop in a challenging and enjoyable way. The games we play are extremely competitive and bring out the best in each player. The environment is filled with experienced coaches and players who teach you technique as well as responsibility and discipline. Sal’s soccer camp is the perfect combination of passion, development and fun.

-Louis Pohle, 12

There is not another camp that can compare to this camp. Other camps have filler time but not here. We are always working on different parts of our game. I spent my entire summer there last year and my soccer friends are like family. We push each other to be better and we encourage each other to never give up.

-Zac Laffey, 11

Coach Sal’s camp is a great place to spend time in the summer. Besides great soccer training, you play fun games that really help your technical skills, it's a win win. There is skill work in the morning, lunch, and a tournament of scrimmages in the afternoon. Every week on Friday, they give out camp awards and it's fun to try and guess from the description which camper is going to win. Coaches are skilled, funny and easy to bond with and other campers are friendly too!
